2016 Andrew M. Herring 08-2016 Herring, Andrew M. Colorado School of Mines Contribution to the science/profession: Recognized internationally as an expert in polymer exchange membranes for electrochemical applications. He pioneered work in new fuel cell electro-catalysts, photo-electro-catalysts, heteropoly acid-based catalysts, and membranes for electrochemical applications. Contribution to the ACS community: Served as Chair of the Division of Fuel Chemistry. Also served as the lead member of the committee to merge the Divisions of Fuel Chemistry and Petroleum Chemistry, presiding over the historic vote to merge two divisions for the first time in ACS history.
