Professor Feng Jiao is the recipient of the 2025 ENFL Mid-Career Award. Prof Jiao is located at Washington University in St Louis. He is the Lauren and Lee Fixel Distinguished Professor in the Department of Energy, Environmental, and Chemical Engineering and also serves as the Director of the Center for Carbon Management. He is also Associate Director of Science at the NSF Engineering Research Center for Carbon Circular Economy (CURB), a five-year collaborative program of 7 institutes. One of Jiao's most significant scientific contributions is development of high-performance CO2 flow electrolyzers with a well-controlled electrode-electrolyte interface, achieving a high selectivity of multi-carbon (C2+) products like acetate under alkaline conditions. Feng's group has also pioneered electrochemical-biological hybrid approaches to convert CO2 into food products. Prof Jiao has also made significant contributions to the ENFL Division through roles as Program Chair and Symposium Organizer over several years.
